This year I am giving in memory of my two sweetest boys EVER! Jack and Patticus. Jack was so sweet and everyone always thought he was a puppy. Even at 15+ years. Patticus was sweet and extremely sassy! He was my shadow for many years and I still expect to trip over him sometimes.

Supporting DuPage Animal Friends and the work they do to help our County Shelter is important to me. As Chairman of the DuPage County Animal Services Committee, I see first-hand the hard work that goes into saving pets and helping people. As an animal lover, I know how important it is that there be a safe and caring place for animals to go when no one else can take them. As a resident of DuPage County, I am proud to see how our community rallies behind the shelter's work to make sure each animal gets the best care and finds the best outcome. Barbara Zeiler: Ripley's (Believe It or Not!) Story $600
One day in early December of 2021 my life changed without warning. I was living with my human lady, and man and my little dog friend. Dad had moved to a facility because of something called Alzheimer's, but Mom and dog and I were happy together. BUT this day mom was not with us, a relative came to feed us and took my dog friend with her, leaving me alone. This relative came to feed me every day but left afterwards. She was very nice to me, told me that my mom had died suddenly and unexpectedly and would do her best to find a new family and home for me.

All the shelters were very full and short staff, but thanks to foster families, I was able to be placed into DuPage County Animal Services’ foster program. I was fostered by a volunteer who thought I was just a purrfect 10 year old black cat, in good health, friendly, affectionate and playful. In a few weeks, I was placed on the shelter's website and I was adopted by a lovely couple who have given me a wonderful home and their love.

Donating to Giving Du Page Days will help more furry creatures just like me--we need you--thank you for caring about us.

To honor all the pets that have touched my life: My dogs: Pepper, Samantha, Blackie, Sadie and Sophie. My cats: Casper, Mr. Spock, Toni (Little T), Indy, Tasha, Serena, Magic, Ivy, Emma, Abby and Chloe. Although Casper, Serena and Magic were not mine, they lived with me for awhile, and I was touched by them. When my babies had to go to the rainbow bridge, they took a piece of me with them. My life would have not been the same without them.

I am donating in honor of my father and dog. We met Quincy in June 2006 at DCAS. He was a great addition to our family and my father and Quincy became fast friends. If my father sat down Q was there within seconds. My dad's lap was his favorite hands down. One our family's favorite pictures is my dad in a rocking chair on the front porch of his farmhouse with Quincy on his lap. Now that they are no longer with us I like to imagine they are back together on that porch in the great beyond.
