Next week on Monday, August 25 through Saturday, August 30—DuPage County Animal Services is joining the nationwide Clear the Shelters event! During the entire week, adoption fees for adult pets are waived and puppies and kittens are half off. Because DCAS is not taxpayer-funded, adoption fees are a critical source of support that helps cover medical care, food, and daily needs for the animals. While this event is an incredible opportunity to help more pets find loving homes, it also creates a financial gap for the shelter. That’s where we at DuPage Animal Friends come in—and you can help, too! We’ve created the Clear the Shelters Pet Sponsor Program.
Here's how it works:
1. You choose to be a “Pet Sponsor” for an adult dog, adult cat, kitten, or even a rabbit.
2. Your sponsorship helps cover the adoption fee that DCAS would normally rely on.
3. After Clear the Shelters Week, you’ll receive a special certificate in the mail letting you know exactly which animal you sponsored.
It truly takes a community to support the nearly 2,000 animals who pass through DCAS each year. If you’re not in a position to adopt during Clear the Shelters Week, sponsoring a pet is a wonderful way to make a life-changing difference.
Together, we can help pets find their forever homes and keep the shelter strong.
