Structured Training and Reinforcement (S.T.A.R.)More than 50% of the animals that DuPage County Animal Care & Control receives are given up by their owners. Many are surrendered due to life circumstance, but many are also given up because the animal’s family did not follow a consistent training & enrichment plan, resulting in behavioral problems. The S.T.A.R. concept was created to address several issues, including behavioral problems, that face our bully breeds and high energy shelter dogs. S.T.A.R. training is provided in order to:
