[VIDEO] See how DCAS volunteer Biscuit Barb's handmade cat covers create a safe place for new shelter cats to hide while they become acclimated in the shelter environment.
A $10 donation today will provide a handmade Kuranda bed cover for a cat at our shelter. As a donation is received, a bed cover will be given to the cat who has been waiting for a family at the shelter the longest.
Cats like the Kuranda beds because they provide a place for them to hide where they feel secure.
When cats come to the shelter, whether surrendered or as a stray, their world is dramatically changed. Nothing is familiar. Sights, scents, sounds, people. Everything is new and strange and causes anxiety. The Kuranda bed cover provides a safe place to hide yet they can see under the cover. The cover has a flap allowing them to come and go, and can be left open when they are more comfortable. The pocket is for toys to provide enrichment. When we see that the cats are playing with their toys, we know they are adjusting to their new surroundings. A suggested donation of $10 will provide a handmade Kuranda bed cover for a cat at our shelter. As a donation is received, a bed cover will be given to the cat that has been waiting at the shelter the longest. And this order will follow. |
