The Biscuit (Barb Zeiler): Sasha the Magnificent! $500 MY NAME IS SASHA and this is my story as told to my foster mom. For 10 years, my life was wonderful and happy with my hooman dad. Then one day he was suddenly gone and I was left alone, alone for several months. No one told me anything. One family member came into our house once or twice a week to fill the automatic feeder and take care of the automatic litter box. This person tried for a long time to rehome me per surrendering me to a shelter but was told repeatedly that there was no available space for me. FINALLY someone referred me to Du Page County Animal Services (DCAS) in Wheaton. It was at this time I heard them say that my dad had died. There it was decided that I would benefit more in a foster home since I was very overweight, had difficulty jumping up to a couch and could not clean myself. I needed a consistent diet of prescription food and a regular activity (play) schedule. I was in my foster home for six months and three weeks. My studio apartment was very comfortable with several pet beds, one heated and a heated blanket by the window where I watched squirrels, a bunny, chipmunks and birds. Soft music was in the background all day. And then, one day I received the BEST gift, that of a FAMILY and a HOME. Now I live with a mom and her young daughter who really love me and the most wonderful thing is that I am never alone because mom works from home and the girl calls me her "big sister." Mom wrote to foster mom referring to me as "magnificent." How endearing is that??? This fundraiser is meant to raise financial support for non profit organizations in our county BUT it is just as important to promote the message that DCAS is the only open admission shelter in Du Page county and that means that every domesticated animal is welcome regardless of age or condition. However you are able to support DCAS, thank you so much for caring about our homeless animals. And may you know the comfort of a "fur kid" in YOUR life! 💕
