A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR MATCH DONORS!!

We are so grateful to these partners who have made it possible to start the event strong and inspire others to give!

Susan Johansen:  Happiness is Dogs for the Johansens:  $5,000

This Match is in honor of Colby, Ava, Niko & Elvis - all former DCAS dogs that are now members of my family and 2 of my son's families (Niko & Ava - formerly Averie).

Anonymous:  Accidental Advocate  $2,000
From the donor: I wish I could say I have always loved animals and tried to support animal organizations. But what really happened was, I inadvertently got educated about the plight of puppy mill dogs. This momentous awakening didn't come to me until I was around thirty. And ever since then, I have been a consistent supporter of all things animal. It's very exciting for me these days that there is so much more effort put into not only saving as many of these animals as we can, but getting the messages out there regarding all manner of animal issues. The DuPage shelter does important work, not only at the shelter, but with the outreach to citizens to educate and assist them (spay/neuter programs, for one thing) in having positive outcomes in pet ownership. These are some reasons why I am happy to have given a donation.

Eric Gaudi: Be the Person Your Dog Thinks You Are $1,000
This gift was made because I know that my rescue dog, Nahla, would want me to help other homeless pets get the same second chance she did.

Karen Kelly:  In Honor of the Volunteers $1,000
This is in honor of all of the animal loving volunteers who experience the beauty in giving back to animals. Thank you.

County Board Member Brian Krajewski: Thank You DuPage County Animal Supporters $1,000
This donation is in honor of all those who help make sure every pet has a home and receives love and support until they are united with their family. Thank you for all that you do for pets in need.

Karyn Romano:  This Mission Matters $1,000
Thank you to everyone who serves this great organization and at DCAS to ensure the pets in DuPage County have a chance.

Anonymous:  No Gift is Too Small $1,000
This amazing Match Donor believes in this community effort and each of you. She is actively watching our progress, participating along with us, and cheering the team on as we raise $50,000 for pets in need. She is doubling every donation $20 and under because every single gift adds up to make a big impact. No matter what amount you are able to give, your donation matters!

Anonymous: This One's For Annie $500
From the donor: One of my dogs, Annie, is a 6 year old pit mix who was rescued from dire circumstances and came to DuPage County Animal Services. I adopted her from a foster facility 4+ years ago and she is the love of my life. Therefore, I am grateful for organizations, like yours, who work tirelessly to save and care for these animals and try and find them good homes. I am happy to help whenever I can.

Jim and Karen Andrews: In memory of John Lendy and Eric Andrews $500

Barb Zeiler: Kickoff with Katrina $500

In 2003, an orange and white kitten was one of a litter born outside somewhere in DuPage County. She became a "promise" to a little girl by her mom. This little girl begged her mom for months for a kitten and her mom said yes, I promise you that we will have a kitten. When this kitten became adoptable, the little girl was thrilled to bring her home and named her Promise. Unfortunately six months later the landlord became aware of this new tenant and evicted her. Promise was brought to DCAS to live in a cage and be separated from everyone and everything familiar to her. I am a volunteer at DCAS and I met Promise in the cat adoption room—and to make a long story short—I was smitten with this kitten and brought her home with me on April 9, 2004. She is now 17 1/2 years old and loved so much. Many times I have thought how fortunate so many homeless animals like Katrina have DCAS as their safety net and this is why I have made my gift to DuPage Animal Friends.

This Magic Pure LLC:  Thank You Volunteers and Staff $300
This donation is in honor to those who help pets in need at DCAS. Thank you.

County Board Member Jim Zay:  Thank You $250
Thank you to the DuPage County Animal Services staff, volunteers, and supporters that make our county shelter such a great example of providing service to the community. Good luck!

Anonymous:  This One's for Quincy $250
My donation was made in honor of our pet Quincy, my husband and I met him at DCACC on June 24, 2006. He was a wonderful part of our family. He traveled everywhere with us: 16 states, 4 MLB baseball parks and too many hotels to count. He also went to hospitals and nursing homes with us when our loved ones were there. He was not a perfect pet (he had a grumpy streak) but he was perfect for us. He crossed over to the rainbow bridge on January 8, 2021.

Marilyn Rabens:  Farm Friends and our Fur Friend Ruger $250
From the donor: I grew up on a farm and had many animals to love. I have had many pets in my lifetime--mostly cats and dogs. While we do not currently have any pets living in our home, we frequently dogsit for our granddog, Ruger. He was rescued six years ago by our daughter and son-in-law and he is the light of our lives!!!

The Bergman Family:  Foster Families and Pets in Need $250
We support DCAS because my daughter, Claire, and I have been volunteers for seven years and we see first hand the impact DCAS has in helping pets in need find their forever homes. We are on the team of cat adoption room cleaners and Claire fosters kittens - we have three adorable babies with us right now!

The Olander Family:  For Those Who Cannot Do it For Themselves $250
We donate to help creatures that are not capable of providing for themselves due to circumstances beyond their control. You may recognize us as the Olander family. Between my wife and I, our daughter's family, and our son's family, we have 5 dog rescues. Our daughter volunteers weekly at Almost Home. We love our dogs and they truly are family members. We even rescued a feral kitten separated from its mother in the wild, our son raised it but had to give it up to a willing home due to allergies. I was raised with dogs and my wife's family always had cats, so we are pet people.

Jan Else:  Happy to Help Make an Impact $200
