OTHER PROGRAMS & PROJECTS

Picture

We advocate for DuPage County's homeless animals in many ways.

Besides funding lifesaving critical care & rehabilitation treatment, subsidizing adoption fees, and contributing to the new shelter project, the DuPage Animal Friends help fund innovative initiatives at the County shelter that is beyond the normal operating budget of Animal Control.

Your donation matters in the lives of shelter pets. Make a gift now.

Lifesaving Equipment & Supplies

The DuPage Animal Friends have provided the following equipment for the DCACC shelter:
  • The Bair Hugger system keeps animals warm and safely contained during surgery when body temperatures drop due to general anesthesia
  • Heated, v-shaped table and pulse oxymeter for the surgical room
  • “Adopt Me” vests for adoption dogs to wear at events
  • Stainless steel bowls for the animals
  • Universal microchip scanners
  • Beds, towers and toys for the cats & kittens
  • Kuranda beds for the dogs
  • Training treats, harnesses, collars & leashes for the S.T.A.R. Program
  • Emergency supplies like kitty litter and hay

Educational Training Support

Know that when you donate to our general fund, you are continuing to help animals even when they have left the shelter. Educating our community and promoting responsible pet ownership is an important piece of meeting our vision. We develop programs and distribute materials to help pet owners learn how to foster a long, healthy relationship with their new pet.

Micro-Chipping Program

Many animals arrive at Animal Control each year as strays. Unfortunately, over 75% of dogs and 99% of cats that DCACC sees arrive without tags or identification that would allow the staff to locate and reunite them with their owners. All dogs and cats adopted from Animal Control are vaccinated and micro-chipped before going home.

DuPage Animal Friends aims to fund low/no cost micro-chipping in an effort to reunite more lost pets with their owners. We also assist Animal Control in promoting the benefits of micro-chipping to the public.
